Way cool! Wrong all the way thru, but W A Y cool!
Ignorance is correctable - stupid is forever! Unfortunately, much of the American population (those who voted for trump) are, quite simply, STUPID!
Funny or Die gets a "C" [up-graded to "B-" because they've only parroted what's in High School History Books] for their conclusion that the Civil War was fought about Slavery, instead about Slave Labor [90% of Northerners didn't give a damn about Slavery but about the perceived Economic Advantage the South seemed to have by not having to "pay" their workers]. The "Stated" reason for the War was to preserve the Union but many, many, other reasons were at play that brought the North/South conflict to a head [including but not exclusively, the Institution of Slavery], most of which were of an Economic nature or simply about the division of Political Power. Southern Secession had a great deal to do with Slavery due to the Southern belief that the North was trying to destroy it's Economic System & reduce it's Political Power by, first containing & then abolishing Slavery. The North had only a handful of people who wanted Abolition but many who wanted Southern Political Power reduced. The only time Black People's Rights were considered was early on in the Reconstruction Era [soon to be forgotten] & again in the 1960's. One should note that the Emancipation Proclamation was a "War Aim" directed only at "States in Rebellion" & left Slavery intact in the Border States that had stayed in the Union [MO., Del., MD, Wash. D.C., KT., W.VA.] until the Constitution was amended after the War, during the Early Reconstruction Era. To this day the Rights of Black Citizens have always taken a back seat to Political Expedience & Economics.
I have a commemorative Lincoln coin from 1909 that states on it (something like) emancipator of a race and restorer of the Union. So at that time it looks like freeing Blacks was a major goal even if there were economic considerations behind it.
